In 2018, I decided I wanted to fully commit myself and play volleyball at a collegiate level. I sought guidance from Monica Jones-McFee, a former teammate, colleague, and friend, and was able to hear about her experiences as a student-athlete. Monica, a UNB alumnus, was able to answer my questions regarding my college options, volleyball film and CV’s, student-athlete requirements, as well as life as a student-athlete. At the time, I was very unfamiliar with the Canadian Collegiate System but Monica was able to provide support throughout the entire process and reach out to coaches and volleyball agencies within the Atlantic Provinces. If it weren’t for Monica’s knowledge and support, I would not have been able to embark on my varsity journey.
